“How can we improve the reading program?” Mrs. Massie asked McDaniel.
“We need more coordination between Title I teachers and class room teachers to reinforce what’s being taught in the labs,” McDaniel replied. “The problem with that is finding the time (for the teachers to work together),” he added.
Dr. Bloomer stated that identifying and correcting the problem in the elementary reading program would take the better part of a year. “I think we’ve made progress (since testing last year indicated over 300 students were reading below grade level),” he said.
