Six-Mile Foot

Race Planned

The “Fodderstack Classic, , a six-mile run from Flint Hill to Washington is planned for April 21 by the Rappahannock Recreation Facilities Authority. An organizational meeting for the event will be held March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the courthouse at Washington. Many volunteers will be needed for the race, including timers, road checkers, starters, water and refreshment personnel, and many, many more to actively participate, in addition to the runners. Anyone interested in becoming involved should attend the March 15 meeting. Do not vbe hesitant in attending or volunteering for many hands will make the job much easier, and everyone can do something, said a spokesman for the Rec Authority.

BUCKWHEAT CAKES {

2 cups milk, 2 cups boiling water, 1 tbsp. yeast, 1 tsp sea salt, 1 tbsp. molasses, 1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 cup of hot water, 4 cups flour, approximately. Scald milk and add boiling water, let cool to lukewarm and add yeast. Then slowly add flour to yeast mixture. Let rise over night. In the morning add salt, molasses and dissolved baking soda.
