It looks like Washington’s town elections will be a horse race after all.
Entries got off to a slow start with only three declared candidates for seven posts as of last Tuesday. But before the 4:30 deadline arrived this Tuesday, seven more hopefuls lined up at the starting gate.
In addition to former mayor Peter Kramer, who hopes to reclaim that position, Brad Fisher, incumbent treasurer who is seeking re-election, and William Wickens, Washington, D.C., attorney trying for his first term, the field now includes two familiar faces and several newcomers to town politics.
Current mayor Newbill Miller is running for another four years, this time as councilman. Dorothy Clater, the incumbent council secretary, is also seeking to retain her seat.
