Due to varying climates, Arbor Day is celebrated at different times in various states, ranging from the first Friday of November in Hawaii to the third Monday of May in Alaska.
This year Arbor Day in Virginia is on March 9. Virginia Forestry Association director Charles Finley urges the use of the day as a particular time to replace old trees that have been lost along the town streets, and as memorials to loved ones. “The trees we plant today will be with us into the 21st century,” he said.
