Returning to the topic of meals, Woodward said he checked with the Department of Corrections regarding the use of frozen dinners for prisoners. “They said it would be .fine but only if someone else prepares them.” The frozen meals come in' aluminum containers and would have to be removed and placed in styrofoam trays before heating in the jail’s microwave oven.
“We can’t do that at the jail unless we have a certified kitchen,” Woodward said, explaining that to get state certification, the old kitchen would have to be remodeled and re-equipped with a special refrigerator, stainless steel stove, double stainless steel sinks, dishwashers and more.
