The win gave the Cinderella Panthers a shot at the silver slipper of the championship trophy. Maybe more importantly, considering the outcome, it qualified the team for the Group A, Region B tournament. The regular season winner and the tournament winner from Bull Run advance. Since Strasburg ended up taking both honors, the second place tournament team, Rappahannock, got the second slot.
Close But Not Enough
In the tournament finale, the Panthers and Rams stayed close for most of the contest but in the stretch, the RCHS boys just couldn’t keep up.
Pendleton began as he had against the Generals, going scoreless for the first two quarters. And this time his third quarter comeback came to a screeching halt when he was tagged for his fifth foul after scoring only six points. Also missing from the picture was guard Jeff Porter whose fall into early foul trouble prevented him from playing full tilt.
