Joe was assigned to Chicago, Texas, LA, Detroit, fanned out to different bureaus across the country. He was sent to cover the Peace talks in Korea. After a cross country trip in a jeep through no-man’s land to reach the site of the talks, he hitched a ride in the nose of
a B-25 bomber to get his film—the first shots of the historic event—to Tokyo • and the wires back to the States. He was assigned to the White House during the Kennedy years.
