Capital Outlay
A capital outlay allotment of $08,000 was proposed. down 17 percent from the 1983-84 budgeted $82,000.
Kstabrook explained that the high school renovation project would proceed only in planning stages. Architects will take about nine months preparing plans and bid specifications for redesign of the gym and cafeteria area, thus leading to an exl»ense of $48,000 in architects’ fees, but postponing until the following year any actual construction costs.
The renovation is expected to cost approximately $750,000, Estabrook said, which would be obtained through a literary fund loan from the state. If the Board of Supervisors approve the project, school officials would apply for a 20 year loan at five percent. Future budgets would include payments on this loan as well as current obligations for debt retirement on the 1959 high school construction. the 1904 high school addition and the 1968 elementary school construction. These loans are repaid under the debt service category of the budget-. The proposed allotment for 198485 is $49,403, down one percent from the current $49,560.
