You almost went to jail because you didn't do it right the last time,” General District Court Judge John Alexander told Michael Todd Brown as the judge imposed an additional 40 hours of community service for a January 23 driving on a suspended license offense.
At the February 28 court session, Alexander suspended the normal fine ($100) and jail sentence (10 days) but ordered Brown to pay court costs of $20. In addition, his license was revoked for the mandatory 90 days.
Brown was warned to take his community service assignment seriously. “No slips and no calls saying you can’t make it or you’re going right to jail,” Alexander told him.
“The second offense is a mandatory 30 days in jail,” the judge added, “So keep that in mind.”
Brown’s name also appeared on the criminal division docket that day for non-' payment of fine/costs. He forfeited his previous bond.
