The monthly travel report from Shenandoah National Park shows more visits being paid to the park than were during the first two months of 1983.
So far in 1984, the total number of visits through the four major entrance stations and other entries has come to 66,200 compared with 51,200 in 1983. The increase is 29.3 percent, park officials say.
During February the 42,100 visits counted was nearly double last year’s 23,300 during the month. That’s an increase of 80.7 percent. •
Overnight stays are also up, but not so dramatically. To date 3,416 overnight stays were counted compared to 3,228 in 1983. During the month of February, it was 1,597 compared to 1,417 in 1983.
