In Fashion?
This spring and summer, the major dress silhouette will be the chemise, long and straight. The “Sailor Look” will be in. Interesting pockets and trims are all the rage. Anything on the color wheel goes, especially sandy neutrals, earthtones, primary brights and whites. Fabrics will show a wide variety of textures, from linens to gauze and voiles, according to McCall’s Teacher Newsletter.
Leather and suede garments may be expensive, but if cared for properly, they can last a .lifetime. Suede should be brushed regularly with a soft brush and smooth leather with a damp cloth to keep dust off. Never brush wet suede. If leather gets wet, air dry the garment away from heat.
Pressing or cleaning a leather garment at home is difficult. Leather cleaning is more expensive than fabric cleaning, but it’s worth the extra charge, since home cleaning can damage a leather garment.
