Missing Children
It is estimated that 2 million children are reported missing each year in the United States. Children can be protected by teaching them who is a stranger and not to get involved with any stranger. Also teach them how to use the telephone, including giving their full name and home phone number and where to find local police and fire department numbers.
Always pick up younger children in the school office or a classroom, not at the school entrance. Finally, be aware of what clothing a child wears to school each day so a detailed description ' can be given, if necessary.
We all hope this is never necessary or that it will never happen here in Rappahannock County but it is best to be forewarned and prepared.
