The increase also reflects a three percent across the board raise for teachers in addition to any step increases that would be created by adoption of an index scale. An additional math teacher at the high school also is anticipated.

The superintendent proposes a seven percent raise for himself, the assistant superintendent and the administrative secretary, bringing their salaries to $36,728, $30,495 and $29,483 respectively. Estabrook explained the seven percent figure as the average teacher salary increase which would come with adoption of his other recommendations.

The total for administration is $121,503, up eight percent from last year’s $112,703. The increase includes an additional $600 in office supplies, part of which Estabrook said would go for computer paper. The superintendent proposed expenditure of $8,000 in the category of capital outlay to furnish the central office with the computer to be used for payroll and related purposes.
