spark going for RCHS. They again missed the front end of the one-and-one, again came down with the rebound and again were fouled. This time, however, both attempts dropped through the net to make it 31-35 with only five seconds to go. The Panthers’ desperation shot at the buzzer fell short.
It was poor ball handling and too many turnovers that put the Junior Panthers behind in the final minutes. The J V lost several of its top players to promotion to the varsity ranks near the close of the season. Those slots were filled by eighth graders brought up from that team, giving the Junior Panthers a young squad with most of them coming back next year. The RCHS Panthers should again be top contenders for the Bull Run JV championship.
On March 5, 1924, Frank Carauna bowled his second consecutive 300 game, becoming the first bowler on record to ever roll back-toback perfect games. As a finishing touch, Carauna bowled a 247 in his third game, making the day’s total 847—just 53 pins shy of perfection.
