Seventy percent of those registered turned out for Tuesday’s elections and put former Washington mayor Peter Kramer back into office for a two year term. \

The cabinet maker who was defeated on a write-in campaign in 1976 held off a similiar effort this time, coming out ahead of antique dealer Emmet White by a two-to-one margin, §2 to 26. Incumbent Mjyor J. Newbill Miller garnered one write-in vote.

The polls closed at 7 p.m. and by 7:55, election officials had the ballots counted, their work followed by several candidates who waited patiently in the rear of the courtroom.
