Rappahannock citizens who are 55 and older may be eligible for a new federally funded job training and placement program. The program is part of the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA), and is made available in cory unction with local community agencies on aging, such as Rappahannock’s Community Services Center.
Eligibility includes anyone 55 or older who seeks part-time or full-time work, and whose individual annual income is at or below $4,980.
JTPA’s Older Workers Program offers services that are threefold: Financial help, for short-term job training in employable nlHlla and for incidentals necessary for the person to complete the training; Support, in the form of counseling, whether personal or job related; and Job Placement, which is assistance in obtaining the actual part-time or full-time position.
