The Fauquier and Rappahannock Chapter of the American Reid Cross has launched its annual appeal for hinds, this year seeking $18,808, an increase of about $1,000 over last year.
Although the goal of $17,317 was attained last year, the chapter’s expenses have increased during the past year. In addition, the chapter has operated at a deficit in three of the past four years, dipping into savings to make up the difference.
In a letter to citizens of Fauquier and Rappahannock counties, fund-raising co-chairman Col. James L. White of Flint Hill cited the services the chapter rendered in the past year in the two counties:
