Conway Classes To Begin
Plans are underway for Conway diet classes beginning in Rappahannock in the upcoming weeks.
Betty Jenkins of Sperryville is planning a daytime class at the Sperryville fire hall beginning on Wednesday, June 6. Anyone interested in joining should contact Betty at 987-8938.
Linda Bailey will be holding a class at Gourdevine Baptist Church beginning May 15 and may be contacted at 825-3328 after 5:30 for more information.
Amissville Auction Set
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Rescue Service is having an auction on May 19, 1983 at 6:30 p.m. at the Amissville Fire Hall. Any person wishing to donate items to the auction may call any of the following telephone numbers: 937-4108, 937-5205, 937-5282 or 937-5125.
Items donated to the auction are tax deductible.
“The Big Chill” Shown
This weekend’s presentation in the Gay Street Theater in Washington will be “The Big Chill”, one of the 1984 Academy Award nominees. A well-acted witty, and thoroughly entertaining serious comedy, the film focuses on a group of seven former college friends from the 60’s who gather for the funeral of the campus radical who brought them together. They’ve all fallen away from their causes to become the kind of people they used to despise and now find needed solace in each other.
“The Big Chill” will be shown only once, on Sunday at 7 p.m., due to the encore presentation of “Where I’m Cornin’ From,” scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5. The moyie was originally slated for last weekend, but was rescheduled due to a change made by the distributors.
Ladies To Meet
The Sperryville Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. All members are urged to attend.
School Talent, Art Show
The RCHS Talent Show & Art Exhibit II will be held in the high school gym on Saturday, May 12, at 8 p.m. Sponsored by the Booster Club and the Student Council, proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for a trophy showcase and to purchase computer software. Special guests will be the S. Street Scanner Boys from Fairfax who have perfected the dance art of “breaking” and “popping.”
Auxiliary Meeting Planned
The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will have its monthly meeting on Monday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall. All members are urged to attend.
Art Show Scheduled
“Virginia Patterns” art show, sponsored by The Fauquier Chapter of the Virginia Museum will be held in the John Barton Payne Building in Warrenton on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ; and on Sunday, May 20 from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
