The Panthers’ remaining points came from Andrew Ellis (third in the long jump), Wayne Woodard (second in the 100 and 200), Garri Jackson (third in the 100) and Clarence Pendleton and Jimmy Freeman (second and third in the triple jump).
“The boys from Stonewall made a stong showing at the relays which were held just a week earlier,” coach Spieker noted. “We expected them to be very strong and to give our boys a real battle in the dual meet. They didn’t and I think it’s because our boys worked harder, expecting so much from Page.”
Tri-Meet For Boys
Rappahannock’s boys team held off determined challenges from district competitor George Mason and private school Bishop I re ton at a tri-meet last Wednesday in Falls Church. “George Mason held the lead after the field events and Bishop Ireton had good runners. The combination gave us some real competition. We had someone to push our boys in the field and someone to push us on the track,” said coach Spieker.
