Francis Fife, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 7th District, met on April 25 with citizens of Rappahannock County. The informal gathering took place at the courthouse.
Lee Bird, Rappahannock County Democratic Committee chairman, arranged the meeting. Fife had called Bird saying, Td like to meet the Democrats of Rappahannock.” Sixteen people attended.
Fife announced his candidacy after J. Kenneth Robinson (R-7, Va.) decided not to seek pee lection. Upon completion of this term, Robinson will have held the seat for 14 years.
Fife sees this as a golden opportunity for the Democratic party. “A Democrat can win coming from this area,” Fife contended. But everybody in the Democratic Party is going to have to work very hard and raise a lot of money.”
