The fifth annual Culpeper Memorial Hospital ' Benefit Horae Show is ait for Sunday, May 20, at Meander Farm on Route 16 near Locust Dale.
Divisions include short stirrups, junior equitation, pony working hunter, green working hunter, pleasure pony hunter, schooling working hunter and pleasure hunter. Among featured classes will be open pleasure, western pleasure, western go-as-you-please, invitational costume competition for horse and rider and a “Jack Benny” special for riders over 30 years of age.
Each year, the show raises about $4,000 for the hospital. The money comes from sale of championship and class sponsors, patron donations, food sales and exhibitors’ fees. Volunteers donate their time for everything from program planning to cooking hotdogs. Proceeds from past shows have been used to purchase a blood bank refrigerator, transport wheelchair, physical therapy evaluation kit, blood pressure monitor, phlebotomy chair and automatic front doors. Donations have also supported a Little League team and a men’s basketball team.
