Mary Magdalene Mills Johnson, 72, of Hanover, Ohio died April 18, 1984, at Hopewell Skilled Villa in Newark, Ohio. She was born December 15, 1911, in Sperryville, Virginia, to the late John Wilson (Jack) Mills and the late Rosa Gaunt Mills, both Rappahannock natives.

Mrs. Johnson was a retired school teacher, having' taught 35 years in the Licking County, Ohio echoed systems.

Surviving besides her husband, Herbert I. Johnson, are three sisters; Irene Dickerson, of Newark, Ohio; June Robison, of Frazeysburg, Ohio, and Loia Jones of Newark, Ohio; two brothers, Gerald Grant Mills, of Newark, Ohio, and Glen Mills (Pete) of MacClenny, Florida; and 11 nieces and nephews. Two sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were held April 21, 1964, at Criss Brothers’ Funeral Home, Newark, Ohio, with burial in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Ohio. The Reverends Homer Ritchey and William Birch officiated.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Johnson’s nephews Gerald B. Mills, Jack E. Dickerson, C. Eugene Robison, John M. Mills, Jeffrey L. Mills and Douglas C. Jones.
