Rev. Lyle Showers

First Assembly of God Pastor

Rev. Lyle Edward Showers, 63, of Strasburg, died Wednesday, April 25, 1964, in Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal.

Born on May 16,1920, in Front Royal, he was the son of the late George Washington and Mary Aylor Heflin Showers. He was pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Woodstock.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in Strasburg by Dr. Howard Spruill and the Rev. Edward Messick. Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Virginia Showers; two daughters, Susie Showers and Debbie Showers, both at home and four sisters, Irene Cornett of Baltimore, Md., Eva Grow of Whitehall, Pa., Susie Kendall of Front Royal and Sarah Williams of Chester Gap.

Turner- Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.

Elwood Whorton

Elwood Whorton, 75, of Castleton, died Monday, April 30,1984, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Whorton; three brothers, Rixey Whorton, Marshall Whorton and Harry Whorton, all of Culpeper and a sister, Mrs. Marie Cooke of Culpeper.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Archie Clatterbuck. Burial was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
