Housed in a trailer provided by the Public Health Service and State Health Department and furnished with equipment from the same sources, the dental clinic offers examinations, cleaning, floride treatments, x-rays, oral surgery, root canals, treatment for TMJ cases where an off center bite is causing head and neck pains, oral cancer exams for adults, peridontal surgery, minor orthodontics involving removable appliances and binding or Hollywood jackets, the latest alternative to tooth capping.
The clinic has two operatories, an x-ray unit, power units and a dark room, a waiting room, private office and a storage room, “so we can see a lot of patients,” Dr. Hughes noted. Currently, he and dental assistant Karen Dawson have 1,200 charted, patients who were seen last year in the clinic’s temporary offices in the Health Department.
