The 1984 version of The Virginia Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, August 11, at Piedmont Vineyards and Winery in Middleburg from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Festival, which is the highlight of the pre-harvest season, is sponsored by The Virginia Wineries Association.
The modern Virginia wine industry which began just over 10 years ago already sports 23 farm wineries which have produced award-winning wines in national competitions. There are at least 120 vineyards in the state which produce vinifera (European), native American and French hybrid grapes.
