to 418 people; swimming and life-saving courses were taught to 320 children and adults; 1,092 units of blood were collected from 641 persons. The chapter responded to 123 appeals for help from service men and veterans. Food, furnishings and shelter were provided for seven burned-out families, and blankets and food were rushed to a bus load of senior citizens stranded in the snow. A total of 30 volunteers helped the professional staffs at the hospital, the two nursing homes in Fauquier and at the bloodmobiles.
