Sisters hurt
Two teenage sisters from Chester Gap were injured when the car in which they were riding overturned in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 522 Monday afternoon.
Rose Ann Williams, 19, and her 15-year-old sister Betty were treated and released from Warren County Memorial Hospital following their 3:30 p.m. accident near the Conservation Center in Warren County.
Apparently, the sisters were headed northbound on U.S. 522 in a 1972 Plymouth when they were forced off the road by an oncoming vehicle.
The Plymouth, driven by the older Williams, veered off the right side of the road, then crossed the two-lane highway, went off the left side of the roadway and rolled down an embankment where it overturned.
No charges were placed by the Virginia State Police in the accident.
The car was reported to be a complete loss.
The girls were transported by the Front Royal Rescue Squad to Warren County Memorial where the older Williams was treated for bruises on her neck, while her younger sister fractured a bone in her shoulder.
PLAN seeks help
A steering committee has been appointed to recruit regional council members to establish a local chapter of PLAN (Planned Lifetime Assistance Network), to provide services to families with handicapped dependents.
A $10,000 grant has been awarded to the Association for Retarded Citizens in the Winchester/Frederick County area to be used to establish an office in the Northern Shenandoah Valley area, including Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Page, Warren and Clarke counties.
The grant will provide funds for a part-time person and the administrative and operating costs of the local office.

Bloodmobile visits today
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Warrenton Fire House today from noon until 6 p.m.
The bloodmobile last stopped at the fire house in July, but George Borjes, blood services chairman of the Fauquier Chapter, said he hopes for a better turnout.
Aiming at a 90-pint target for the fiscal year, the unit has collected some 52 units of blood. Boijes said he is optimistic that the goal should be exceeded today because some 121 • donors who participated in the June drive were not eligible in July. Boijes said he hopes to equal that number of donors today.
