To the editor:
Some recent letters seem to have advocated a kind of self-determined spiritual truth, and one even stated that I “voted” for a particular idea.
Spiritual truth is never determined by a majority vote (or minority, either, for that matter).
Neither is it determined by what I think or what anyone else thinks it should be.
As difficult a pill as it is for some people to swallow, God has revealed himself in the Bible as the only true God and as one who claims authority over all the creations.
He does not, however, merely claim authority, but he does indeed have authority. Therefore, he does not suffer from the insecurity that would require that he immediately fstamp out rebellion.
The facts that he did not annihilate Lucifer (Satan) at the time of the original rebellion, and that he did not snuff out the human race in the Garden of Eden are sufficient to establish this.
This one, true God has revealed himself to us in an authoritative book which we call the Bible. Its inspiration (sourced in God), infallibility and authority have been established over the centuries far beyond my ability (or anyone else’s) to add or detract. In the Bible we are presented with facts about God’s being, his works and his will.
