Rappahannock County boys took the sixth, seventh and ninth places but it wasn’t enough to defeat Stonewall Jackson in a four-team cross country meet Sept. 18.
Running on its home, 2.94-mile course, Stonewall Jackson won the boys’ division with 21. Rappahannock was second with 51, Perry McCluer third with 68 and Page County fourth with 107 points.
On the girls’ ledger, Rappahannock finished three girls among the top seven runners yet were unable to overtake Stonewall. The Generals finished with 24 points, 19 better than Rappahannock with 43, Page finished with 59 and Parry McCluer kept no score.
Manassas Park, scheduled to compete, was absent.
For the boys, Rappahannock’s John Dodson placed sixth in the field, covering the course in 18:17.
