If you enjoy banjo-playin’ and atory-tellin’ a trip the Fauquier Department of Parks and Recreation is planning may be just the thing.

Steve Wade will perform his “Bai\jo Dancing” at Arena Stage, and the Fauquier department is sponsoring a bus trip to the Nov. 9 performance. However, the department has set an Oct. 9 date to register. Tickets for the round-trip bus ride and admission tickets are $21 per person. A chartered bus will leave Fauquier High school at 5:30 p.m., and return about 10:30 p.m.

The department is also sponsoring “A Country Jubilee” to kickoff the fund-raising campaign for Licking Run Park.

The event is planned for Oct. 5 from 2-6 p.m. at the park site near Midland.

Planned for the day are balloon rides, a Flying Circus Air Show, tours of the park site, country music and chicken and a pork barbecue and beverages.

Tickets for the day are $20 per adult, $10 for children ages 6-12. Children under six will be admitted free of charge. All proceeds will be used to build the park, which is set to open next summer.

Tickets are on sale at the department office at 62 Culpeper St. in Warrenton, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Other department activities include a visit to historic Annapolis on Saturday.

A charted bus will leave Fauquier County High School at 7 a.m. and return at about 9 p.m. Total cost for the bus ride and tour of the town is set at $13 per person.

The department is also attempting to start a softball league this fall at Benner Field in Warrenton.

Two divisions, one on Mondays and Wednesdays, and one on Tuesdays and Thursdays, are sought.
