The third house on the tour is Meadow Grove, three mi\es south of Ben Venue on Va. 729 and the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Fletcher Massie.
The farm was established in 1739 with a land grant from King George III, a portion from the Lord Fairfax Grant. The deed to land added in 1802 was signed by then governor James Monroe, and is on display.
The original house, built of pine logs, still stands and one wall of this is seen in the den closet.
From 1905 to 1927, Meadow Grove housed the Massanova Post Office beneath the stairs in the entrance hall. Also contained in the house are forebearings of six generations of Massies.
