Big weekend

True, the weekend of Oct. 19-20 may be some three weeks off, but it appears as though that weekend will be cause ’plenty to stay right here in Rappahannock County.

In addition to the annual house tour and dried flower sale, preparing for its 29th year in what has become an institution as valued as any we have, Sperryville will hold its first Apple Harvest Celebration. ^

Between those two — plus the usual influx of tourists that weekend, Rappahannock County will take on a festival atmosphere seen in these parts only a few times each year.

The date may be three weeks off, but it is something to plan for now.

Congratulations, Karen

It may not have been very suspenseful, but it certainly has been eventful.

Karen Jordan, a senior at Rappahannock County High School, possesses a special gift.

This week, Ms. Jordan scored her l,000th-career point for the Rappahannock Golden Panthers. She is only the second player at the high school — and the first girl — to reach that milestone in scholastic sports.

Sport has always been a healthy way to direct energy.

Ajid that a teenage girl can accomplish so much — a night she will never forget — is merely an added plus.

Congratulations, Karen Jordan.
