Rappahannock Home Mutual
Fire Insurance Company began its 72nd year Sept. 1 with a record of which it is justly proud.
The company came into being in 1878, when the charter was issued in the names of Gideon H. Brown, William F. Anderson, John C. Browning, Cornelius Smith, Lewis Botts, Robert E. Miller and Middleton Miller.
The early records of the company are lost, presumably destroyed in the Woodville tornado of May 2,1929.
Mrs. J.G. Rivercomb of Peola Mills was named winner of the first Rappahannock Flower Show. Mrs. L.J. Turner placed second.
The countdown to the Rappahannock County Fair is 10 days.
Annual Homecoming was held Sunday at the Amissville Bethel Baptist Church with two services being held.
