Because of “technical problems,” Warrenton’s eastern bypass — for Route 15, 29, 211 — won’t open until next summer.
The 3.5-mile bypass, previously scheduled to open in December, should eliminate some of the congestion on Broadview Avenue, the original bypass west of Old Town. About 40 percent of the vehicles using Broadview Avenue are expected to switch to the new $5.35 million bypass, said Don Askew, Fauquier resident highway engineer.
Construction was delayed four months because of “technical problems” with Norfolk-Southern Railroad, Mr. Askew said. “But everything’s worked out now.”
TTie railroad and the highway department couldn’t agree on a design for the bridge which supports the tracks just south of town near Meetze Road.
