“Good, healthy food” is how Mel Davis, manager of Brambles Cafe in Washington, described the fare which the newly-renovated and expanded (to 46 seats) cafe will be offering on its menu. The cafe, which saw its long-rUmored transfer of ownership finalized last week, reopened for business on Sunday. The popular restaurant was purchased from John and Ilene Shipman, who had operated it for the past two years, by Washington, Va. residents Richard and Blaine Viguerie.

Mr. Davis has extensive cooking ; experience, “from about the age of : eight, at my parents’ hunting lodge in New Mexico. I started from the bottom-climbing up on an apple crate to wash dishes.” He went on to a 20-year career in the Air Force, most of which was spent as a chef.
