During the first half of the year the students wrote letters to TV stars, musicians, sports stars and other favorite celebrities. They asked for a picture, poster or other items that the celebrity would be willing to donate to the auction.
High school teacher Deb Mills explained, “We have a form letter for the students to go by but they add their personal comments. It works, because last year Alabama sent us their album of the year.”
“Our biggest problem was finding addresses. We’ve gotten at least 10 to 15 letters back because of incorrect addresses. The students have to pay for the envelopes and postage because we don’t have funds for that,” Ms. Mills added. “Because
