The auction is a reading incentive project. The students read a book and then do a written or oral report. They receive play money to put in a savings account book. If they have $15 at the end of the year they can go to the auction and bid on the items.
Elementary teacher Bobbi Brochu commented, “The amount of ‘money’ given depends on the length of the book report and how well they can answer questions about the book.”
