The Town of Washington’s Comprehensive Plan should be ready for public hearing in 60 days, Bill Wickens told the Washington Town Council last Wednesday.
The town Planning Commission would like to have the Comprehensive Plan passed before the zoning ordinance is acted upon, “even if it is right before it at the same meeting,” Mr. Wickens said. Councilman Wickens, who also serves on the Planning Commission, explained that data is available for most Virginia counties but not for Rappahannock, thus the delay.
The Planning Commission is tackling a “groundwork” project, Mr. Wickens said. Although the commission is using plans formulated by neighboring counties as examples, he assured the council that Washington’s Comprehensive Plan won’t be a “cut and paste” job.
