Soccer camps for girls and boys, ages six and up, will be held this summer at Shenandoah College and Conservatory in Winchester.
The Shenandoah Day Soccer Camps, now in its sixth year, will have three sessions for children ages six to 12: July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to noon, July 21-25 from 5:45 to 8:45 and August 4-8 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The day camp is designed to help improve individual soccer skills and features a 10 to 1 ratio of campers to staff. The fee for the camp is $40 per child.
Former Team America player Sonny Askew will be the featured instructor for the Residential Soccer Camp for boys and girls, ages nine to 16. The camp will be held July 27August 1 and the fee is $165 for a residential camper and $135 for a commuter camper. The fee includes a soccer ball.
The staff of instructors for the camps are from high schools and colleges in Virginia and Maryland.
An All-Pro Goalkeeper School will be held July 17-20 for boys and girls ages nine to 18. Gary Hindley, head coach of the Houston Dynamos and assistant coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the MISL, will direct the camp. Mr. Hindley was selected “Coach of the Year” of the USL in 1984 and has coached at the college level for 12 years. He was an all-conference goalkeeper in college.
The Goalkeeper School is held every summer at four national locations. The fee for the goalkeepers residential camp is $174. All the camps are held on the Shenandoah campus.
