In addition, RAAC was instrumental in securing a grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities to produce Kathy Kiley’s original and highly-aclaimed Voices of Rappahannock. RAAC is presently attempting to secure another grant to produce the piece in the county schools, allowing local children-with the guidance of experts in music and directing-to have the experience of producing a piece of theatre.
The association was co-sponsor, along with' Faith Mountain, of the Blue Ridge Art Show last fall in conjunction with Sperryville’s Apple Harvest Celebration. The show featured local artists and craftsmen and was extremely well-received. RAAC has also produced, for the past two years, a calendar featuring work by local artists.
“We’re here for the benefit of all of the citizens of Rappahannock,” Mr. Reynolds continued. “We’re not a club-we’re an association FOR the community, and we can’t exist without the community and its support. It’s not one group doing this, bur helpers are all kinds of people...doctors, lawyers, teenagers, farmers, retired folks...hundreds of people have helped us.
