Student Glen Hitt earned $65. “I’ve never bid at an auction before. In our money books we wrote down the date, the name of the book, and how much we got for our report.”
Ms. Mills and Ms. Brochu felt the auction was a learning experience in bidding and keeping track of money as well as being a reading incentive.
“It was fun and it added something extra to the end of the year for the students. They really seemed to enjoy it,” both teachers agreed.
Student Aubrey Surface concurred. “Having the auction is a good idea because it makes us want to read more books and give better book reports so we can get more ‘money’ for the auction.”
