Boys’ State was founded and its courses of instruction were designed to supplement the information taught in the high school curriculum. It is a part of the Americanism program of the American Legion. Boys’ State teaches that our form of government is good but that its preservation depends on intelligent, informed, and loyal citizens working in combination with an honest and impartial administration of governmental functions.
Eligibility is limited to outstanding young men of the junior class who exhibit qualifications of patriotism, leadership, character, scholarship, honesty, cooperation and physical fitness. The school is responsible for recommending outstanding students who will represent their school, classmates and the youth of their community at the program.
