spring Hi vent planned

The Washington Baptist Church is having their annual Spring Event on April 18. There will be plate lunches for sale, barbecued chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, baked goods and drinks.

There will also be plants and things from Grandma’s Attic. Those who have not signed up to bring baked goods should contact Jean Alther at 675-3844 or Jessie M. Turner at 675-3531. “Come and take your pick of things you want to buy,” said a church spokesperson.

Dinner honors volunteers

Rappahannock’s first volunteer get-together and covered dish supper will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. at RCES. Sponsored by Extension Homemakers Clubs, the Extension Service and Volunteer Services of Community Services Center, the dinner will recognize all volunteer organizations in the county.

The program’s theme will be The Constitution’s Bicentennial. The Hon. Raymond R. (Andy) Guest, will be the speaker. If any organizations have not been contacted please call Jeanie McNear (675-3329) or Sandra Richardson (675-3619) for more information.

Honorary contestants needed

Young ladies between the ages of 12-18 who wish to compete far the title of Chester Gap Honorary Fire Chief and represent the company in upcoming parades should contact Karen Williams at 635-4673. This contest is open to any girl in Rappahannock or surrounding counties. The carnival dates for this year are July 22-25. A grand prize of $1,000 will be awarded on Saturday, July 25.

ARB to meet

The Architectural Review Board will meet Thursday, April 16, at 8 p.m. in the courthouse. Interested persons are urged to attend.

Amissville 4-H Club to meet

The Amissville 4-H Club will meet April 23 at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. 4-H is open to anyone between 9 and 19 years of age.

‘Peggy Sue Got Married9

The movie Peggy Sue Got Married will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19, at 7:30 p.m. The movie stars Kathleen Turner, Nicholas Cage and Barbara Harris. Distressed by her unhappy marriage to her high school sweetheart j Peggy Sue, 43, collapses at her high school reunion and wakes up 25 years earlier. The question confronting her: knowing what she does at 43 and the drip that her husband has become, would she marry him again? A wistftil fantasy from Director Francis Ford Coppola, the movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
