Last week’s warm temperatures brought more traffic to the county, and with it an increase in accidents.

Last Wednesday, an early morning wreck near the Sperryville Exxon station resulted in a young Front Royal woman being charged with failure to yield the right of way. Kristi Lee Knutson, driving a 1980 Honda two-dOor, attempted to turn onto Rt. 522 from Rt. 211. She was struck by an eastbound 1984 Oldsmobile, operated by Joseph Q. Chadwell, of Staunton.

According to Trooper R. A. Baines, damage was estimated at $1,400 to the Knutson vehicle and $2,000 to Mr. ChadweU’s car. There were no injuries.
