But the salaries for the high school principal and the assistant superintendent have been upped in the proposed scale, Mr. Estabrook noted. “In my judgment, the distance between level four and level five and between level five and level six should be greater than we have now.”
Bill Oliver pointed out that the salary of an assistant principal with eight years experience would be 1.19 percent of the base, using the proposed scale. If that person were to be promoted to principal, he or she would take a salary cut, since the scale puts the elementary principal’s beginning pay at 1.18 of the base, he added. “I don’t think that’s fair.*’ '
