Council also discussed the possibility of burying telephone and electric power lines at the same time trendies are excavated for the water system overhaul. Attorney Frank Reynolds was directed to contact Potomac-Edison about the procedure.
Prior to approving the recodification of the zoning ordinances passed last August, Council discussed several matters which were not included in the ordinances. Specifically, “the need, or not,” said Mayor Morehouse, for parking and sign ordinances, and changes in the Comprehensive Plan and zoning regulations to bring them into compliance with state law.
The town’s Comprehensive Plan and Subdivision Ordinance were incorporated into the zoning ordinance by reference.
William Strider, executive director of the Planning District Commission, had suggested at December’s council meeting that some demographic information be included in the Comprehensive Plan.
Mr. Reynolds told Council that if any substantive errors are later found in the recodified ordinance, changing it will require readvertisement.
Mayor Morehouse added that he had been told that previous councils had taken a number of actions which were not documented. He asked about the status of those actions under the new ordinance.
