Marine PFC Daniel M. Bailey, son of Betty W. Bailey of Front Royal and Archie D. Bailey Jr. of Washington, was assigned to duty at Marine Barracks in Alameda, Calif., after completion of the Infantry Combat Training Course at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N. C.
Shortly after arrival at his duty station, Bailey was promoted to private tint class.
During the six-week basic training course, PFC Bailey received classroom instruction and participated in field exercises involving infantry tactics, the construction and camouflage of fighting positions, and the use of mines, demolitions and intra-company communications equipment.
