The people of Rappahannock County are invited to participate in the creation of a mural on the theme of “Origins and Excavations,” which will be one of the events scheduled during the artist-in-residency of Val Dubasky, a painter from New York City who is spending April in Rappahannock.
The mural will be composed of four interlocking panels, inspired by the four directions of traditional Native American thought. To become a whole person, it was believed, one must gain the qualities offered by each of the four directions; Wisdom from the North, Illumination from the East, Innocence from the South and Introspection from the West.
