A reciprocal agreement?
Someone in the audience reported that one supervisor has said Culpeper has agreed to take Rappahannock’s trash if Rappahannock likewise accepts that county’s solid waste.
No other local government is willing to talk about even a short term contract unless the county has a contract to buy a piece of property to use as a landfill, responded Supervisor Nelson Lane.
Supervisor A1 Henry added that the board is pursuing an exchange agreement whereby a neighboring county will take Rappahannock’s solid waste until a landfill is operating and then in return Rappahannock will take the same number of tons of that county’s trash. “We’ve got to do something,” the Jackson District representative concluded. “We can’t pile it in the fields!”
