A good rule of thumb to remember, advised the Commission, is that ‘ the anticipation of the hunt often lets hunters see things they wish were there instead of what really is there.
While in a blind, movement should be kept to a minimum. It’s what makes turkey hunting so difficult, since most hunters cannot remain totally still while in a blind.
One method to alert other hunters to your presence while camouflaged by bushes set up as a blind is to tie a blaze orange sash around the trunk of a tree being used as a support. Every year there are reports of accidental shootings caused by a hunter shooting based entirely on movement, thinking he’s shooting at a turkey. A blaze orange sash will tell other hunters that there is someone in the area.
